The New Mayor Promises a 'New Era' for The Big Apple in Maiden Speech

During an inauguration day in office, Zohran Mamdani vowed to “reimagine” the metropolis, declaring “a different age” and an bold beginning to his administration.

The new figure, who was a relatively obscure state assemblyman, now stands as the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the first to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
