A person who laced treats with sleeping medication and distributed them to children at a youth camp in the region has admitted sexual offences against two boys aged between nine and ten.
The defendant was arrested after eight minors and an older person fell ill at the facility in July.
The 76-year-old, from Ruddington in Nottinghamshire, admitted guilt to a series of 17 offences when he appeared at the courthouse on Friday.
Nevertheless, he denied one particular crime he was accused of, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
The defendant was kept in jail prior to a further hearing on November 28th.
'Treat game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described Ruben's offending to the court.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were attending a summer camp which he ran.
The man played a "candy game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor said, in which he would access the children's bedrooms when they were preparing to sleep and request they to eat sweets "rapidly".
She informed the proceedings the man had conducted this practice with the children "over an extended period", and minors had previously become sick the following morning.
She said the defendant had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the situation, justifiably.
"They resolved" to investigate in the individual's items."
Mrs Prior KC stated materials including baby oil, Vaseline and injection devices were located, and his stepchild contacted the authorities about his concerns.
She stated Ruben continued to play the "treat game" with six boys that night - July 26th - and they were all ill the subsequent day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that stage," she stated further.
The regulatory agency, the Independent Office for Police Conduct, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
The legal representative stated the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She said the defendant then engaged in the "treat game" in a space of five minors.
