Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Soldiers Party

Since the launch of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with rich lore, a diverse cast of personalities, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers expanding in power within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 are included.

The Warrior Group Introduced

The third episode ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.

The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), the agile character (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was clear from the outset that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, weaving together the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the combat-focused party is for players who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the developments of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

To begin with, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.

An old friend of the deceased character—whose death started the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his own means, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then cleared his obligations and escaped to a fortified location in the remote area, beyond the urban center, with Teor’s brother hot on his heels.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in Timmony and advises that it is a dangerous environment.
  • Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to kill the target and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • Yet, their position as key figures in the influential clan could enable the group access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character pledged a unbreakable promise to The cleric for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are hunted by the authorities that control the setting for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by the family.

This leaves them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of Casimir.

Upcoming Developments

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the cast members to form the Questers and Planners groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
