A Pair of Detentions in the Aftermath of London Heathrow Irritant Spray Incident

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident resulted in the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 parking area.

Two more people have been arrested related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which 21 people were injured by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth for suspected theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 on Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their suitcases upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was among the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Police arrested a man in his thirties for suspected theft and assault near the scene. He was subsequently released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT following reports of a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The attack - which police said was a standalone incident and not considered an act of terror - caused delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the main airport tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking facility briefly.
